We have plenty of technological imagination and a lot of distopian thought, but surprisingly little serious work on social futures. This is both a cause and effect of pervasive pessimism about the future.
The talk will look at three main fields: the world of politics and government, the world of universities and social science and, finally, the role of the arts.
