Climate changes, ecological collapse, population growth and exhaustion of the earth's resources. This calls for action.
But is it enough to choose a direction where everyone eats plants in the future, cultivates the soil gently and reduces food consumption? Should we instead focus on technological solutions where improvement of crops using the latest genetic research and technology can help third-world countries feed themselves and withstand the inevitable climate changes and the impending exhaustion of the earth's resources?
Or is there are third way where the union of both directions together creates a robust global food system, ensures enough food for the world's growing population while preserving and protecting biodiversity? We've talked about it for decades but the subject has never been more present than it is now.
