Music and community

How can music nurture and promote communities? How do communities emerge around music? These are the questions that 10 researchers from various disciplines have tried to answer in a special issue of Danish Musicology Online released during GRASP.
18 Nov 10:00 - 12:00
Location: Aaben Dans

In the event, you will experience short presentations of the research results followed by talks, panel discussions and musical inputs.

You will be introduced to research indicating how music communities can be built through participatory music-making, community signing, pedagogical strategies in after-school clubs, concert experiences, music therapy, cooperative creativity in jazz bands and musical improvisations in kindergartens.

Among the researchers are Maria Westvall, Henrik Marstal, Dan Hvidtfeldt and Mikkel Snorre W. Boysen.

The discussions are moderated by radio host and journalist Carsten Holm and musical inputs are delivered by the violinist Karen Humle.
