“A key problem for us moving forward is how do we get the truth out to the largest number of people in the shortest space of time, that changes their attitudes quickly, so they can change their behaviors quickly.”

Kumi Naidoo on the Concept of 'Artivism'
Already at the age of 15, Kumi Naidoo was involved in the fight against apartheid in his homeland, South Africa, and since then, he has dedicated over 45 years of his work to the environment, climate, and human rights. The original activist, starting out on a rubber dinghy in the Arctic, floating around protesting for Greenpeace turned CEO, Kumi Naidoo has worked for a better world at some of the world's leading civil society organizations.
Kumi Naidoo is now spearheading the 'artivism' movement - using culture as a tool to communicate important messages as widely as possible to a modern audience whose attention is constantly challenged in the digital media landscape.
Despite being the former International Executive Director of Greenpeace International and Secretary General of Amnesty International, Kumi Naidoo believes that if you are a popular artist, you are much more powerful than any CEO of a big organisation. We proudly present Kumi Naidoo as one of the keynote speakers at GRASP 2023 where he will elaborate his ideas for the future of activism and mobilisation.
