BIG AND SMALL UTOPIAS

FRIDAY 27 SEPTEMBER

Can utopias once again become a tool for imagining a different and better future?

  • Friday 27 September
    Cafescenen, 13:30

UTOPIA is not just a catchy buzzword – it's a real tool for societal change.

If we cannot imagine a different and better world, how can we create it? Jonas Lieberkind, Ph.D. and lecturer at Aarhus University, along with Kara Djurhuus from the Roskilde Festival Group, explore utopia as a driving force for youth action and engagement.

Since the youth rebellion in '68, young people have been the symbol of experimental, wild, and radical ideas. In our time, crises are once again mounting. And we need the dreams and courage of youth to renegotiate the future anew. Youth must be empowered to dream. It is time to revive utopia in 2024.

Youth researcher Jonas Lieberkind and Kara Djurhuus, Head of Philanthropy and NGO Partnerships at the Roskilde Festival Group, share their insights into young people's relationship with utopias. Both the big and the small - based on brand new methods, data, and analysis from Roskilde Festival's current work on youth engagement under the three-year theme UTOPIA.

Learn more about the current conditions and potential for change of utopia in 2024. And join the conversation about what future utopias should look like.

Presented in collaboration with the Roskilde Festival Group.
