An opening keynote on sensitivity, care, and an economic system that accounts for what truly matters.
- Saturday 3 October
Emma Holten (born 1991) is the author of Deficit (Underskud) — a book that challenges the very foundations of our economic thinking. What happens when care work and caregiving fall outside the calculations of traditional economic models? And what does this reveal about what we, as a society, truly value?
At GRASP, Emma Holten will open Saturday's programme with a talk on the value of care and sensitivity. She will explore what it would take for our economic system to begin recognising those aspects of life that cannot easily be assigned a price. It is a question that has resonated far beyond Denmark's borders and appears to be gaining significant momentum at this moment.
Since its publication in 2024, Deficit (Underskud) has sold more than 50,000 copies and is being published in 13 countries. Emma Holten is an experienced keynote speaker, and her perspectives on economics, care, and the organisation of society have been central themes at GRASP since the festival's first edition in 2021.
