How does the concert format shape the encounter between artist, sound and audience?
A concert is more than just the music being played. The space, the stage, the technology and the distance between artist and audience all help shape the overall experience.
In this panel discussion, we explore what happens when the framework of the concert changes. From small, intimate venues to large-scale productions – and from the traditional stage with the audience in front to immersive formats where sound and performance unfold all around the audience.
How do scale and physical setup affect the possibilities available to artists? How do sound technology and spatial staging influence the way we experience music? And can new concert formats create new forms of intimacy and connection between artists and audiences?
The panel brings together perspectives from music, sound engineering and live production for a conversation about the concert format as an active part of the artistic experience – and what the live experiences of the future might look like.
