Simulator: Giving the Future a Voice

SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER

If Denmark adopted a Futures Act – what would it mean for Roskilde?

  • Saturday 3 October

What would happen if Denmark granted rights to future generations – and committed to safeguarding their wellbeing?

On the final day of the festival, The Danish Coalition for Future Generations invites participants into a scenario-based policy simulator. Here, participants step into a near future in which Denmark has adopted a Futures Act inspired by principles of intergenerational fairness.

In this speculative format, consequences become tangible. Through situations, dilemmas, and local perspectives, participants explore what such legislation could mean for the Municipality of Roskilde. How might decisions on urban development, culture, climate, and welfare look different? What role would young people and future generations play? And what new demands would this place on politics, institutions, and everyday practices?

The simulator makes it possible to experience how policy and strategy shift when long-term responsibility becomes an obligation – not just an ideal.

The simulator is an immersive, participatory session for anyone interested in exploring how the future can be given a voice – and what that requires in practice.
