- Saturday 3 October
At a time when prepping is becoming an increasingly prominent topic in public discourse, this session raises a different question: What makes us resilient as individuals and communities when crises strike? If we prepare as a society with water, batteries, and canned food, how do we prepare ourselves culturally, socially, and mentally?
“Culture’s Prepping Checklist” is a nationwide campaign and knowledge-gathering initiative that highlights culture as an active part of society’s preparedness. Through a simple, poetic, and action-oriented checklist, citizens are invited to reflect on the skills, relationships, and cultural experiences that strengthen our ability to stand together in uncertain times. The prepping checklist includes prompts such as: Learn at least two songs by heart, Know your neighbours, and Learn how to tell a story.
The event offers insight into the background of the project and its ambition to collect knowledge, stories, and experiences from local communities across the country. Participants are also invited to contribute to the ongoing development of “Culture’s Prepping Checklist” by sharing stories, songs, and cultural resources that can help strengthen our collective resilience.
Join us in exploring what culture means for our preparedness—and how, together, we can create a shared list of the things that hold us together when it truly matters.
