What can the musical struggles of the past teach us about the future of the music industry? And how do we create a music scene where more voices are heard?
For generations, music has been a powerful force for change. From the songs of the Danish Redstocking Movement to today's artists and activists, music has challenged norms, gender roles and power structures – while creating new communities and new visions of what the world could look like.
In this session, artists and musicians from different generations come together to explore the role of music in the fight for equality. Drawing on both personal experiences and historical perspectives, the panel reflects on how past struggles continue to shape the challenges we face today – and why it is vital to remember the voices that have too often been written out of music history.
The conversation explores the importance of role models, representation and hope. What does a more diverse and sustainable music industry look like? What progress has already been made, and what will it take to create the next wave of change? Along the way, the discussion is complemented by a musical performance that connects past and present.
