Havet i munden

THURSDAY 26 SEPTEMBER

Be surprised by experimental song, poetry and choreography about queer bodies, pleasure, friendship and love

  • Thursday 26 September

Immerse yourself in an enchanting and delightful summer universe in Havet i munden (The Sea in the Mouth) - a cross-disciplinary performance of song, poetry, and choreography. The performance explores two bodily sensations that are both complex, overwhelming, simple, and deeply transformative: swimming in the sea and hormone treatment. As friends meet and float around each other, the narrator's body, voice, and experience of pleasure and pain are changed and renegotiated.

In The Sea in the Mouth, gender euphoria intersects with BDSM and pop cultural references in a mashup of genres and approaches that push the boundaries of what stage art can be. The performance is created by choreographer Kai Merke, composer Mija Milovic, and writer Luka Holmegaard, based on Luka Holmegaard's poetry collection Havet i munden (2023).

Havet i munden was developed for Roskilde Festival 2024, and now you have the opportunity to experience it again at GRASP. You are invited to dwell on the changing nature of your own body - regardless of your gender or sexuality. Havet I munden creates a playful, safe, and nurturing space where queer and trans bodies are at the center of pleasure, intimacy, and transformation. Look forward to a performance that blends song, poetry, and choreography into a unique artistic expression that entertains, challenges, and expands your experience of bodies, friendships, and love.

Presented in collaboration with the Roskilde Festival.
