Can philosophy help us change the world?

The role of philosophy in today’s major challenges

Join us as philosophy students from Roskilde University (RUC) explore the role of philosophy in today’s society. You’ll be introduced to two philosophical texts, selected and presented by the students themselves. The presentations will highlight how philosophy can shed light on and help address some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

Since the texts are chosen by the participating students, the specific selections are still to be announced. In the past, topics such as the climate crisis, economic inequality, organ donation, and the significance of art – drawing on thinkers and institutions like Jane Bennett, Karl Marx, the Danish Council on Ethics, and Theodor W. Adorno, have been explored.

The two texts will be made available ahead of GRASP, but there is no expectation that the audience has read them or has prior philosophical knowledge. A curiosity for big questions and a willingness to be challenged are more than enough.
