Housing for the Future

THURSDAY 25 SEPTEMBER

How can we reduce the CO₂ footprint at scale?

  • Thursday 25 September

Construction is one of the most climate-damaging sectors in Denmark – and the housing sector plays a crucial role in the green transition. In this talk, we explore how we can reduce the CO₂ footprint of construction while ensuring that housing remains both affordable and livable.

The panel will discuss key questions such as: What does it take to lower the climate impact of construction? How can underutilized buildings be transformed into soulful and sustainable homes? What architectural and technological solutions already exist – and what is still missing?

The panel will also look at how the social housing sector – with its scale and social responsibility – can lead the way in developing new housing models and green renovations, both as a pioneer and through large-scale experimentation.

  • Steen Birkedal – COO, Landsbyggefonden
