- Thursday 25 September
How can small, targeted interventions spark large-scale, self-reinforcing transformations? Drawing on current research and real-world experiences, Rune Baastrup explores how positive social tipping points can be used as levers for green transition.
He unfolds how norms, behavior, and systems can “tip” toward sustainability – and how municipalities, civil society, and decision-makers can work strategically to create the right conditions. A talk that bridges systems thinking and practical action – offering both hope and agency in complex times.
Rune Baastrup is Director of Development at Democracy x and a sociologist with a sharp eye for how to move societies forward. For years, he has been a driving force in partnerships that bridge research and real-world application – always grounded in the belief that genuine change requires public engagement and cultural shifts.
He is co-founder of DeltagerDanmark and author of several books, most recently Efter festen – a reflection on systemic crises and hope. He is a co-author of the Global Tipping Points Report 2025 and a member of the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s committee on Societal Learning in the Green Transition. In short: He works where new knowledge becomes new practice.
