Imagine that you step into a beautifully decorated room with tables covered in white tablecloths, flowers, crystal glasses, candles, and carafes. Two elegantly dressed hosts warmly guide you to a seat at a table. A bell rings, and the hosts welcome all guests and present the program, which includes communal singing, keynote speakers, and a three-course dinner.
But the courses are not food. Instead, they consist of short presentations where artists, researchers, lecturers, pedagogues, teachers, students, and entrepreneurs share knowledge with you and invite you to participate in creative and sensory activities. These contributions present new insights into aesthetics, creativity, and art in education and society.
Within education, there are proud traditions of using art, creativity, and aesthetics to foster community, well-being, engagement, and more. However, the field is evolving. Children and young people are not the same as they were 40 years ago. Today's society is characterized by a range of challenges related to well-being, diversity, and sustainability, which heighten expectations for arts education to generate new possibilities and solutions. At the same time, there is a growing emphasis on involving children, young people, and citizens in decision-making processes, raising important questions about the role that art and education should play.
During the Knowledge Dinner, you will gain inspiration and new knowledge about education, art, and society—and encounter perspectives that may surprise and challenge your assumptions.
You will leave the dinner enriched by conversations, inspiration, experiences, and new insights into the role that aesthetics, art, and creativity can play in education and society.
