Music as a Force for Social Change

THURSDAY 26 SEPTEMBER

Can music inspire hope, ideas, and dreams that can shape the society of the future?

Music has always been a powerful tool for expressing and processing emotions. It serves as a gathering point, reminding us that we are not alone in hope for change, especially in tumultuous times. Music creates a space where we can collectively dream of new ways to shape society.

But what does hope and the will for change look like in today’s music? What societal change movements can be found in contemporary music and its usage? And most importantly, where can we find them? These are the topics Henrik Marstal (music researcher, RMC), Kristine Ringsager (Associate Professor, Ph.d, KU), Benjamin Clemens (SYL), and Laura Lilholt Andersen (Angående Mig) will discuss in the panel conversation "Music as a Force for Social Change," moderated by radio host Fie Neergaard (P3).

Look forward to a discussion on how hope and the will for change manifest in today's music and the role music plays as a voice and identity marker. Gain insights into how music can motivate listeners around a cause, an idea, or a vision. And be part of the discussion on how music can create spaces for societal change and inspire us to dream of a better future.

Music as a Force for Social Change” is presented in collaboration with Ragnarock.
