Who Owns the Stories?

THURSDAY 26 SEPTEMBER

Explore the ethical complexities in documentary storytelling in a masterclass workshop with Jess Crombie

  • Thursday 26 September
    Cafescenen, 13:30

Join researcher and scholar Jess Crombie from the University of the Arts London for an insightful workshop on contributor-led storytelling.

This workshop will delve into the critical importance of collaboration and partnership in ethically telling other people’s stories.

With nearly two decades of experience as a senior leader in the humanitarian charity sector, Jess Crombie brings a deep understanding of the ethical complexities in documentary storytelling. She will share her expertise on how to cultivate a more considerate and ethical approach to storytelling partnerships. Her research focuses on the potential for power shifts by actively seeking the voices and perspectives of those with lived experience. This co-creative process, which she has termed “contributor-centered storytelling practice,” redefines how stories are gathered and shared.

You will walk away with practical tools and inspiration to foster collaborations and partnerships that can transform the way your organization tells stories.

“Who Owns the Stories?” is presented by OpEn – the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Information and Engagement funding pool.
